After the consolatory test win in the final test match, Indian players are resurgent and aiming to win their first ever ODI series in South Africa. The statistics favor South Africa as India has a poor record against South Africa on South African soil. The last time the two nations played on South African soil in 2013-14, it was a one-sided affair, with the hosts winning 2-0. In fact, in the last 28 matches that the two countries have played in South Africa, the Proteas have won an astounding 21 matches whereas India has managed to notch up merely five wins.

India also does not have a good record playing at SuperSport Park, Centurion, where the second ODI is slated. Given the historical records, bookies are favoring South Africa to come up on top. However, AB de Villiers is out of the first three ODIs, thanks to an injured finger. With the World Cup round the corner, the Proteas will be trying to find the right combination. However, don’t expect Kohli’s boys to give up without a fight, especially with the number one ranking on the line.

Prediction for the 2nd ODI Between India and South Africa

It is difficult to say who will emerge the ultimate winner of the series. However, considering India’s recent ODI victories at home and away, the Men in Blue have the talent to give the Proteas a run for their money. It will all depend on how well the middle order bats and how good the bowlers are with the ball. This depends on the pitch and playing conditions.

Until then, the odds are stacked against India and it would be better to take up the offer of the bookies and place your bets in favour of South Africa. If you check the odds being offered, they are heavily skewed, showing that the bookies too think the Proteas will win.
